Weekly Poker Tournament by a TV Network, in Neonopolis - to Have Gaming License

A Television Network has plans to hold a weekly poker tournament, in Neonopolis. However, this could need a gaming license, which is a requirement that could wipe off the project completely. Casinocitytimes.com reports:

Gaming Control Board Member Mark Clayton said Thursday that FOX Sports Net had not approached casino regulators and investigative staff in connection with having poker tournaments played at Neonopolis. Representatives from the network proposed to gaming regulators a television broadcast studio at Neonopolis where filming would take place for a poker-based game show.

Participants at the National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) Game Night 2006 Not Only be Helping Hemophilila Patients But Will Also Get a Chance of Winning a Place at the WSOP

The National Hemophilia Game Night 2006 opens on April 4th at the ESPN Zone in Times Square in New York. The winner gets a seat at the World Series of Poker event. However,this is a charity event and all the earnings will go to the NHF. This charitable organization looks after people with bleeding disorders. It works in the field focusing on finding better cures and treatments for such people who have bleeding and clotting disorders. The buy-ins for the No Limit Texas Hold'Em tournament are for $1000. General Admission tickets are for $75. The NHF has estimated a sale of almost 350 tickets, for this event. Casinocitytimes.com reports:

The NHF chose the ESPN Zone for this function because of the venue's appeal and location. Citing a need to raise as much money and awareness for their important cause as possible, NHF Vice President of Marketing and Communication Suzy Zimmerman said holding the event at a popular facility in the middle of Manhattan will allow for a maximum number of participants.

Foxwoods Poker Classics - the $10,000 Championship Now A Part of WPT

The New England Poker Classic has been renamed the Foxwoods Poker Classic, this year. It will have a presence in the World Poker Tour. The Travel Channel will air the finals of this event. The prize sum of this Championship is $10,000. There were 8 preliminary events in last years New England Poker Classic. Now that the Foxwoods Poker Classic will be introduced in the WPT Schedule, the field for the championship becomes larger than ever before. The Foxwoods championship is the final event before the WPT Championship at Bellagio, in April. Not an event to be missed. Extreme Poker Tournament That Held an Underwater Tournamemt Last Year, Now Makes Ice - the Playfield

Juha Helppi was the one  to win the first Underwater Poker tournament, held last year. He will now be defending his title - The Extreme Poker Title, on a field of ice, this year. Last year the tournament was held at the bottom of the ocean off St. Kitts coast. As the winner, he got a chance to choose the next venue. He zeroed down on his home in Finland. On the 29th of March, Helppi will play against three InterPoker.com qualifiers. They will play in the Arctic Kemi Snow Castle - The world's largest snow castle, that is in Finland. Looks like this year the players will be battling sub-zero temperatures and new rules of play to go with them! Cardplayer.com reports:

Players leave the competition when they run out of chips or nonessential clothing or are forced to leave after succumbing to the cold. Medical personnel will be present at all times to monitor the health of all participants. Melbourne's Aussie Millions Tournament to be Televised by Fox Sports Net, in US

The 2006 Aussie Millions - Melbourne's Crown Casino Poker Tournament will be filmed from January 15-19 and televised across the U.S. as a 10 part series. This will be done as per a deal with Fox Sports Net and the program will debut at 11 pm local US time, in March.

Crown Limited and Fox Sports Net (FSN), a division of the FOX Broadcasting Company and News Corp announced the partnership. The Aussie Millions, held annually at the Crown, has a purse of $5 million, and the 2006 Aussie Millions champion will pocket $US 1 million.

Leading Poker Players From Across the Globe Meet At the 2005 Carribbean Poker Classic Tournament in St. Kitts

More than 400 top-ranking Poker players of the world are headed towards St. Kitts, this weekend. They are getting together for the 2005 Caribbean Poker Classic Tournament. This tournament is set to take place at St. Kitts Marriott Resort and Royal Beach Casino. The estimated prize pool is of $2 million. The event will take place between Nov. 26- Dec. 4. About 200 poker players are reported to be arriving by charter, from the UK, on Friday. 150 players will join in from the United States and many other will arrive from different parts of the globe. The Poker Tournament starts on Sunday. Caribbeannetnews.com reports:

Poker is normally associated with millionaire playboys and the casinos of Las Vegas, but for a hairdresser from The Grange, in Scotland, Mum Lucia Barrett, is about to take on the world's leading poker players in a challenge which promises a 1.4 million pounds prize to the winner.
