A Tournament By the Fraternal Order of Police With the Proceeds Going For Children and Christmas

A "Holiday Hold'em" game of Poker will be organized by the Fraternal Order of Police of the Tri-Town Lodge # 30 at the Outlaw BBQ restaurant on Route 1, in Foxboro, Ma. The proceeds and collections from this Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament will go to the Greater Attleboro Area Council for Children's annual Christmas. WWW2.townonline.com reports:

Tickets for the tournament are at $65 each and seats are limited on a first come basis. Every player at the final table will be receiving prizes.

Largest Legal Poker Prize in Canada Won by a Man From Salt Spring Island

A man from Salt Spring Island has won the largest legal prize in Canada, at the B.C. Poker Championship in Richmond, B.C. James Hawkins took the grand prize of $382,000. Casinocity.com reports:

He said he had been playing poker for a couple of years and this was only his second tournament. The championship consisted of three Texas Hold'em events over a four-day period.

Party Poker's New Shootout Tournaments

An interesting variation to the standard Multi Table Tournament format are the Shootout tournaments, at PartyPoker. In a Shootout Tournament, there can be 1,2,3, or 4 rounds. The number of rounds, varies according to the number of players that take part. In Rounds 1,2 and 3, there are no collapsing tables. They advance if they are one of the 3 remaining players, at the table. Advancing players get a portion of the prize pool each round. Players who advance, do so with the chips won up to that point. Round 4 is played according to the standard Multi Table Tournament Format.

Nick Schulman is the new champion of the World Poker Tour Finals. He is a young man of 21 years who qualified as an online player.
